SOME of the brightest astronomers in southern England will take part in a conference in Clanfield next weekend.
A one-day conference for amateur astronomers will take place next Saturday, July 15, from 9.45am to 5.30pm in the Memorial Hall.
Organisers of the conference, which will be hosted by the Hampshire Astronomical Group (HAG), have devised a varied programme.
Black holes, Higgs Bosom and meteor science will be some of the hot topics that speakers from Clanfield Observatory and the universities of Portsmouth, Southampton and Sussex will talk about.
Light refreshments will be provided while delegates will be invited to visit the observatory and its five domes during lunch.

There’s a further treat for astronomers next Friday as Professor Giovanna Tinetti will talk to HAG members about ‘Brave new worlds: the planets in our galaxy’ from 7.45pm in the same venue.
