CLANFIELD Cricket Club’s final match of the 2021 season took place on Sunday as Shirrell Heath visited South Lane Meadow.

Shirrell Heath were invited to bat by Clanfield captain Mike Collins and they finished strongly with 198 for nine from their 40 overs.

In reply, Clanfield started slowly as some good bowling from Pete Hicks for the visitors kept openers Collins and Matt Bradley subdued.

But Bradley finally broke the shackles by hitting four boundaries in successive balls against Alan Williams.

Pete Croxton was bought into the attack and took a wicket straight away as Collins was caught behind.

Croxton was involved again for the next wicket, catching Rob Brien off Matt Smith.

Bradley continued to look to score at the other end, and reached his half century - but the required run rate continued to climb.

For Heath, Mike Smith and Mohan Babu both took wickets early in their spells, dismissing Sean Swift and Chris Buckle respectively.

Bradley and Kieran Page added 65 in quick time with Bradley in particular finding the boundary and reaching his century.

The pair kept Clanfield in the hunt, but some good bowling from Shirrell Heath saw Page dismissed for 23.

Bradley fell in the final over for 120 as the visitors took the spoils by 14 runs.
