THE CLASSIC tale by Thomas Hardy is coming to stage in the Mill Studio at Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre as Hotbuckle Productions presents Far from the Madding Crowd.

As three very different suitors compete for her heart spirited independent Bathsheba Everdene must choose between them. Will she choose to marry for passion? For obligation or for true love and companionship? Or will she value her independence and not marry at all?

Perhaps one of the most endearing of Hardy’s novels Far from the Madding Crowd tells the story of the young shepherd Gabriel Oak and his love for and pursuit of the elusive and headstrong Bathsheba.

However, when her wayward nature leads her into the path of the dashing Sergeant Troy and the reclusive farmer William Boldwood it culminates almost inevitably in a thrilling tale of both tragedy and true love.

Celebrating their tenth anniversary and following on from their recent successes with Emma, Persuasion and David Copperfield, Hotbuckle are back to bring Hardy’s enduring romance dramatically to life with live music and their trademark energetic ensemble style.

Take a colourful journey through Hardy’s rural England as Far From the Madding Crowd is stunningly adapted for the stage.

The show will be taking place from Thursday, April 20, to Saturday, April 22.
