STAFF at Liphook railway station are celebrating after their ticket office clerk scooped a customer service award from South Western Railway.

Lynn Robertson was presented with her award along with a number of her colleagues who were also honoured for their outstanding contributions, as South Western Railway celebrated its first Excellence Awards to recognise employees who go the extra mile for customers.

Lynn is a friendly and familiar face who is always ready to listen to her customers at Liphook.

Her work around rail safety was highlighted by her colleagues after she proactively brought together school children and South Western Railway’s Rail Community Officers (RCOs) for ‘Safety on the Rails’ workshops.

Lynn said: “It was a real honour to collect this ‘Dedicated to Safety’ award and be recognised in front of so many people.

“I’m so thankful that my colleagues chose to nominate me and I hope my work around safety at stations will help keep schoolchildren and young people safe and out of harm’s way.”

South Western Railway’s managing director Andy Mellors said: “I am proud of all of our Excellence Awards winners who have provided first class customer service over the past year.

“They represent the very best of our company values and clearly love the work that they do.

“We can only recognise a small number of our employees at these awards but we know we have dedicated teams across the entire South Western Railway network who go the extra mile every day.”

In total, 16 individual and group winners from South Western Railway were recognised for their dedication and customer service at the awards ceremony, which was held in Southampton.

Nominations for the awards can be made by colleagues throughout the year.
