LISS Archaeological Group has completed its annual spring dig at Colemore.
The dig lasted for two weeks, and trenches and test pits were used for confirmation of existing finds on the site.
“It went really well,” said site director Juliet Smith.
“We had evaluation trenches to see if the building went further down the field, and it does.
“We had two schools at the dig, including Herne Junior School, Petersfeld, who did digging, sifting, metal detecting and lots of activities.
“We had a vast number of local people at the dig, as well as a gentleman from Birmingham, a lady from Kent and a student from Australia, and we are always looking for more volunteers.
“Our next project is the village big dig in Stroud on the last two weekends of July.
“We will return to Colemore from September 16 to October 18 for our autumn dig, and we will have school visitors every Friday
