Comedian Rob Newman is bringing his Work In Progress tour to The Phoenix Theatre and Arts Centre in Bordon on June 24 at 7.30pm.

The winner of the Best Scripted Comedy and the Best Comedy with a Live Audience categories in the BBC Audio Drama Awards 2019 will be trying out new material for his Radio 4 series.

Rob read English at Selwyn College, Cambridge, and began his comedy career as an impressionist in the late 1980s before gaining fame alongside David Baddiel, Hugh Dennis and Steve Punt in the BBC radio and television programme The Mary Whitehouse Experience from 1989 to1992.

Newman and Baddiel then had their own programme Newman and Baddiel in Pieces in 1993 which culminated in them selling out the 12,000-seat Wembley Arena when they took the show on tour.

Rob’s later solo work had a social conscience and anti-establishment views, and he covered anti-globalisation protests in Seattle in 1999 for Channel 4 News.

Rob’s show is suitable for those aged 14 and above.
