There’s a few events around the Herald & Post patch over the coming days to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, so here’s a selection to choose from:

People in Whitehill & Bordon have been invited to come together for an afternoon of music, stalls and remembrance at The Shed this Saturday with a range of wartime themed-activities and events between 1pm and 5pm.

Highlights will include live music from Stephanie Bell and a swing band, stalls and an interactive display by the Phoenix Theatre and Woolmer Forest Heritage Society, where you can listen to audio extracts of the lead up to VJ Day.

But before then the town will observe a national two-minute silence at midday to remember the sacrifices and courage of all those who served.
