Twelve community groups shared £10,000 from East Hampshire District Council’s Community Lottery with grants from the East Hampshire Community Chest.

Holybourne Theatre received £1,000 for rechargeable lights and thermostat heaters, while Headley Down Nature Reserve was given £500 for its tenth anniversary tree area.

Petersfield Community Association got £310 for a dehumidifier, and the Ropley Courtyard Community Shop received £952 to refurbish the courtyard.

A grant of £1,000 went to the Petersfield Infant School Association for a new adventure playground, and Petersfield Open Air Swimming Pool was given £936 to buy children’s rash vests.

The Basingstoke and Alton Cardiac Rehabilitation Charity received £1,000 to raise awareness of cardiac health, and another £1,000 allowed Petersfield Cricket Club to buy a second-hand mower.

Alton Rugby Club was given £800 to improve the clubhouse, while the Weyford Association of Staff and Parents received £992 for cooking and nutrition.

Dementia Friendly Hampshire got £1,000 for Nature Connections, and Y Plus Youth Services received £508 to upgrade internal doors to meet examination board requirements.

Cllr Adeel Shah, East Hampshire District Council’s community development and engagement portfolio holder, said: “The Community Chest scheme has continued to grow year on year.

“Funds raised through the Community Chest enable us to provide vital additional support to local groups and community projects across the district.

“It was a pleasure to review and support the applications. The successful projects deliver a diverse and valuable range of services, and the grants awarded ensure benefits are felt throughout the entire district.

“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who donates so generously. Their contributions make a meaningful difference and allow us to support these outstanding organisations.”

More than 70 good causes benefit from the East Hampshire Community Lottery. Community Chest grant recipients are decided by a panel of officers and councillors.
