THE PETERSFIELD Bookshop has challenged budding authors to write a ghost story as part of its centenary celebrations.

The guest judge will be Goodnight Mister Tom author Michelle Magorian, while the winning author will receive a £100 cash prize.

There is no word limit but the story, which can be traditional or modern, must be set in a bookshop and written in English.

It must also be read at a “nice dramatic pace” in less than 20 minutes with midnight on November 30 being the deadline.

The three runners-up will receive prizes of £100 of books from the shop. Entries should be sent as a Word document as an attachment via e-mail at: sales@petersfieldbook shop.com with the author’s name, postal address and telephone number at the bottom of each page.
