PETERSFIELD Town Council halls committee has recommended that £15,000 for professional fees is set aside in next year’s budget.
The council is in talks with Kings Arms Youth Centre trustees about plans for a new purpose built youth center that could either a stand-alone building, or an extension of the pavilion already on the playing fields at The Avenue.
Initially the trustees said they wanted to build and own a premises on the council owned playing fields; but the council insisted it would have to be owned by the council.
Talks between the trustees and the halls committee are to be held next month to debate the matter; if a deal can be agreed in principle it will open the way for more formal talks.
The £15,000 will be an initial set aside sum to be used for professional advice as negotiations become more serious.
The committee has also recommended a further £10,000 is included in next year’s budget for similar advice about proposed ambitious improvements to the Festival Hall.
