AFTER spending more than £1.3m on keeping East Hampshire home’s warm this winter, more residents are invited to apply for grants for energy saving home improvements.
The Green Deal Cosy scheme run by East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) and funded by the government, gave 368 residents grants this winter for energy-saving home-improvements.
The works included multiple types of insulation, boiler replacements and ground source heat pump systems, a technology which gathers heat from the ground and converts it into heating for homes.
The work was completed by local installers and relationships have been built to ensure future works can be managed similarly.
Councillor Adam Carew said: “The Cosy scheme has provided welcome opportunities for families to improve their home without worrying about where the money will come from.
“The funding supported more than 360 installations to fend off the frosty weather.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Beatrice Hubert-Price, our Eco Housing and Retrofit Officer, and her team for their hard work and making this scheme such a great success.”
Due to the widespread interest in this scheme a waiting list was created for residents who did not receive funding on this occasion. This list will be used should further funding become available to enable similar works to take place.
Contact Beatrice Hubert-Price, EHDC’s Eco Housing and Retrofit Officer, for further details on available grants and/or to add your name to the waiting list on 01730 234 352.
