Local streets will be closed to traffic for Jubilee parties over the extended bank-holiday weekend.
The celebration weekend runs from tomorrow (Thursday) to Sunday and residents of 18 East Hampshire roads will be holding street parties.
Locally these are Herne Road in Petersfield on June 2, Old School Road and Warren Road in Liss on June 4 and on June 5 in Lower Mead, Rushes Road, and Woodbury Avenue in Petersfield, Village Street in Sheet, and in Horndean at Saint Michaels Way, and Whitehaven Road.
Residents had to ask permission from East Hampshire District Council to close their road so there wasn’t a significant impact on traffic.
Party organisers have been asked to make people aware of their plans, including how long the road will be closed for.
The emergency services have also been informed, but roads will be accessible for all emergency vehicles at all times.
District council deputy leader Julie Butler said: “Whether you are holding a tea and cake event in the garden or a good old-fashioned street party, The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is the perfect chance for everyone to come together and celebrate.”
The Jubilee celebration in Petersfield town centre starts this evening (Wednesday) at 7pm in The Square with a live concert from Petersfield band Rehab Blues.
