FRIENDLY and sociable keen walkers are invited to a meeting in Petersfield to learn about becoming volunteer Walking for Health leaders.
Walking for Health is co-ordinated by the Ramblers Association and MacMillan Cancer and aims to improve people’s health and wellbeing and has run in East Hampshire for 12-years.
The next free training day for walk leaders will be on Thursday, September 24, at the East Hampshire District Council offices between 10am and 4pm.
The fun and informal training day will provide information on how to lead the free walks safely.
As part of the training, volunteers are taken for a short walk by the River Rother. Lunch is provided.
After the course, leaders will be fully supported to become integrated as a volunteer with one of the 30 existing walks or even start up a new one.
To take part in the leader training, participants must have visited a Walking for Health walk so they have an understanding of how they work.
Contact Louise Christie, EHDC Sports and Physical Activity Officer, on 01730 234067 or by email at [email protected] for more information, or to reserve a place on the training day.
