An Alton man won’t be allowed on the road until early 2028 after being caught drink-driving in the town.
Staines Magistrates Court heard that Jay Battersby was nearly double the legal limit when he gave a breath test on October 4.
The 25-year-old of York Mews gave a reading of 68 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath after being stopped by police on Garstons Way, with the legal limit being 35/100.
Battersby was given a 17-month driving ban, which will be reduced by 17 weeks once a rehabilitation course is completed, after admitting on Monday (November 2) to a count of drink-driving.
The defendant was also fined £440 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £176 surcharge with magistrates taking his guilty plea into consideration.
