A man has been sentenced for a day-long crime wave that saw him commit a string of burglaries using a stolen high-end car as transport.

Christian Eigenberger, aged 53, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court on Friday, November 18, to two years and four months in prison for the spate of thefts earlier this year.

He was convicted of eight offences on September 20:

n A burglary at a house on Cosham Park Avenue, Portsmouth, in which keys were stolen;

n Taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent – relating to the theft of a Jaguar on Cosham Park Avenue, Portsmouth;

n Attempted burglary at Premier Stores on Hambledon Road, Waterlooville;

n Burglary at The Hampshire Hog pub, between Chalton and Clanfield, in which money and alcohol was stolen;

n Attempted burglary at Spar on Catherington Lane, Waterlooville;

n Burglary at The Red Lion pub in Chalton, in which food and drink was stolen;

n Burglary at Subway on London Road, Waterlooville, in which £130 cash was stolen; and

n Burglary at Debretts in Frogmore Lane, Waterlooville.

He was also convicted of burglary at The Swallow pub in Dunsbury Way, Havant, on September 30, in which food and drink was stolen.

Eigenberger will also have to pay an £187 surcharge to assist in funding victim services.

PC Kirsty Watts said: “Eigenberger stole a car from an address in Portsmouth and used it to target a number of businesses.”
