VISITORS paying for parking with credit or debit cards in East Hampshire District Council car parks will have no surcharge added to their ticket price from now on, thanks to changes to the council’s parking meters.

From Saturday, January 6, a law change will mean extra charges imposed by credit and debit card companies for using cards can no longer be passed on to the customer. The district council has adjusted its meters to remove this charge, which was around 22p per ticket.
