Crocheted poppies raise almost £1,400 for Poppy Appeal

THE final total collected by a Petersfield woman who crocheted poppies for the 2016 Poppy Appeal has been announced.

Kristina Lloyd of Highfield Road collected £1,361 in a fortnight for the appeal at Waitrose by making and selling her hand-crocheted poppies.

She said: “I crocheted about 150 poppies and 30 head bands in advance, but as the poppies flew off the stand I started to crochet at Waitrose and continued at home.

“When the demand was even more, I decided to take orders, often crocheting until as late as midnight sometimes making up to 150 poppies in one sitting.”
