PERFECT weather conditions for the Rogate Summer Fete drew a large crowd to the event last Saturday.

Organisers believe more than 1,200 people visited the village’s annual fete, raising around £7,000 towards maintaining the village hall and recreation ground.

Over 400 visitors enjoyed tea and cake and Rogate Primary School and Youth Club ran a variety of stalls to boost their own fundraising.

The raffle, run by Rogate Tennis Club, raised £1,500, and there were plenty of other show highlights, including children’s races, a fun dog show, cycle sprints and tug-of-war contest.

The event drew plenty of favourable comments and chairman of the fete committee Mary-Anne Berendt thanked sponsors The Country House Company, Mackarness and Lunt, Adam Gibson Trees, Durleighmarsh Farm, St Peter’s Vets, South Downs Manor, Positive Lifestyles, TJays and The Empawium.
