HUNDREDS of youngsters have shown off their best moves at a thrilling dance festival in Petersfield.

The Petersfield Dance Festival took place for the first time at The Petersfield School with more than 600 children taking part, ranging in age from four up to 18.

The three-day event has been deemed a huge success and plans are already in place for next year’s festival.

Organiser Lucy Penketh is a dancer herself who has travelled on cruise ships around the world, dancing modern, ballet tap and jazz.

She said: “We had entries from schools all across the south. It was packed out each day – we had lots of spectators coming to watch.”

Trophies were given for outstanding performances and Lucy said the competition is hugely beneficial for the children taking part. She added:?“We had sections for first time festival goers. It can be quite daunting especially for the younger ones.”
