THERE were some strange visitors to the ever-popular Buriton Village Show.

The annual event was visited by the Butser Roman Legion, who gave an exhibition of military skills, and by Darth Vader, to help celebrate 40 years since the first Star Wars film was released.

Around 90 people made 500 entries to the show, making many of the classes highly competitive and the independent judges commended on the standard of entries across the board. The vegetable sculptures were particularly impressive.

The afternoon fun and games featured a very competitive set of round the field races which were won by Freddie Robinson for the juniors and Daniel Lambert for the adults. The now traditional egg-tossing contest was won by Greg Ford.

The following day saw the Buriton Open Gardens event attract many visitors.
