THE DAUGHTER of a Petersfield woman plans to abseil down the Spinnaker Tower in memory of her mother who died of cancer.
Anne Parnell lived most of her life in the town, but died just before Christmas after pioneering cancer treatment didn’t work.
Before she died, Anne hoped to abseil on the iconic tower in Portsmouth to raise money for the Cancer Immunotherapy and Immunology Care Centre in Birmingham.
Now her daughter Katie, who used to live in Petersfield but is now in Southampton, is going to attempt the abseil for her mum.
Katie said: “Although she is no longer here, I am continuing with the event on her behalf.
“We are aiming to raise as much money as possible in her memory.
“She was an adventurous and determined lady who would have loved to see her close friends and family face their fears for a good cause.
“I have nearly 40 friends and family from the Petersfield area signed up to abseil down the 250ft tower, each hoping to raise £500.”
The daring challenge takes place on Saturday,March 12. To sponsor Katie, or donate to CIIC, visit https://www.justgiving.com/Anne-Parnell3/
