A MUSIC group for dementia sufferers launched in memory of a much-loved wife is due to start this month.

The Pam Robson Music Group is to run once a month for three months in the United Reform Church in College Street, Petersfield.

Pam, who was the wife of Clive, died aged 69 last year after suffering dementia.

Mr Robson, of Patricks Close in Liss, said: “The relentless march of dementia took my lovely Pam’s vivaciousness, wit, skills, memory, spatial awareness, recognition, communication, sight and mobility but even at the latest stages of her illness we could make a connection through music.

“That seems to be the case with most people living with dementia at any stage, they may all present differently but there seems to be a common response to music.

“So nothing is more fitting to her memory than to set up this group in her name.

“We are also aware that carers will benefit. It’s a break from an intensive responsibility and a chance to compare notes with people in the same position.

“If this three month trial is a success, we intend to run on a monthly basis, as long as we are providing enjoyment.”
