DEMENTIA Friendly Liss held a successful launch event at the Triangle Centre.

The event, held last Tuesday, coincided with the launch of the companionship cafe at the Triangle Centre.

Petersfield Dementia Friendly Champion Jeff Williams has helped set up Dementia Friendly Liss with Sam Booty and Charlene Rosewarne, from East Hill House Care Home.

Lucy Perkins, from the Good Care Group, and Val Hale, from Safe Harbour Home Care, helped set up the cafe.

Jeff said: “Sam and Charlene have been working hard getting the community involved running Dementia Friendly sessions, while Lucy and Val have been developing the companionship cafe, a cafe that is specifically for people living with dementia, their carers and families living in the Liss community.

“Dementia Friendly Liss is helping to make a place where people living with dementia feel understood and comfortable, a village where businesses and services help those living with dementia.

“This launch is a great start, with more than 20 organisations already pledging their support and attending Dementia Friends sessions alongside members of the community.

“Working together, Liss can make a significant difference and make Liss truly a dementia-friendly place to live.

“On behalf of the people living with dementia, their carers and families living in the Liss community, I would like to thank Sam, Charlene, Lucy and Val for giving their time as volunteers to this worthwhile initiative.”

The companionship cafe will be held at the Triangle Centre from 2pm to 3.30pm on the last Tuesday of every month. The next cafe will be held on November 27. It will take a break in December and return on January 29.
