PLAY area equipment at two parks in Petersfield is now set to be replaced or renewed.

East Hampshire District Council community forum for Petersfield, Liss and surrounding villages has agreed that developer contributions should be made available for one of the projects.

The release of £77,045 will see play equipment on Borough Hill replaced by new equipment installed by Petersfield Town Council (PTC), which owns the play park.

Town council spokesman Steve Field said: “The developers’ contributions come following the completion of the new housing estate on Larcombe Road.

“We will now find a contractor to install the new play equipment, and hopefully it will be done by this time next year.

“It’s also planned that the play equipment on the Woods Meadow field between Stafford Road and Highfield Road that the council owns is replaced, and there is money set aside for that.

“Both play areas should reopen about the same time next year.”

The community forum also agreed to release £15,310 of developer contributions to carry out drainage work on the Paddock Way recreation ground.

Among the new equipment planned for Borough Hill is a 20m zip wire, a clamber stack and a climbing net.

At Woods Meadow a play fort is be built outside the fenced play area, and equipment inside it renewed and replaced.
