EAST HAMPSHIRE District Council is supporting Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) History Month by flying the flag over its Penns Place offices.

The LGBT History Month is celebrated every February in the UK and aims to promote equality, diversity, acceptance and raise awareness of the prejudices faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

The rainbow flag was raised on Thursday morning by EHDC leader Cllr Richard Millard and Chief Executive Sandy Hopkins and is being flown to coincide with the Hampshire Pride event that takes place on Saturday (24 February) in Winchester.

Cllr Millard, said: “EHDC is extremely proud to support the LGBT community and fly the flag over our offices.

“We are committed to supporting diversity in East Hampshire and recognising the experiences, achievements and issues the LGBT community faces on a regular basis.”
