ROAD surfacing work of the new ‘longabout’ at the junction of the A325 at its junctions with Liphook Road and Firgrove Road will mean long detours for drivers.
The contractor appointed by Hampshire County Council to take over construction of the Whitehill-Bordon Relief Road after the collapse of Carillion at the start of the year, Skanska, will be starting the work tomorrow (Tuesday).
Although the night-time closures are only scheduled to take a total of four nights, the county council is issuing diversion orders to cover a period from May 8 to May 18.
Residents have been sent letters saying every effort will be made to keep noise to a minimum between 9pm and 6am but as the current road surface will need to be broken up, some disturbance is to be expected.
Pedestrians will be able to walk through the work area but vehicles will not be able to use the junction.
This means access to Firgrove Road will have to be through Blackmoor from the south or using the northern section of the relief road from the north.
Anyone travelling from the south and wanting to go to Liphook Road will have to make a long detour through Liphook, although, from the north, they can drive parallel to the A325 around the town centre.
People needing to reach roads around Sutton Field and Peel Close will be able to use the A325 but will have to stop short of the Liphook Road junction.
