POLICE are warning dog owners to keep their pets in sight when out walking after dog thieves tried to snatch a puppy over the weekend.

The owner was walking the puppy near Clanfield when the attempted theft by three men in a Subaru car with a navy blue roof and a silver body took place.

Fortunately the owner and pet were reunited before the men could encourage the puppy into the car.
