A PETERSFIELD mother has praised the response to an online Christmas appeal for domestic violence victims.

Mother of one Jenny Bennett, of Borough Road, says she has been overwhelmed by people’s generosity in response to her Facebook appeal.

She said: “I asked for gifts for the mothers and children spending Christmas in a Southern Domestic Abuse Service refuge.

“Some of these women had to leave life-threatening situations with nothing but the clothes they had on, and we wanted to take the worry of presents for the children off their shoulders.”

Soon after she posted her appeal, the donations started to flood in.

She said: “I have to give a massive thank you to Sew Creative, in Lavant Street in Petersfield, and Haslemere Town Council who offered to be gift drop-off points.”
