PETERSFIELD Area Churches Together (PACT) is calling for people who might otherwise be on their own this Christmas.
They are invited to the annual PACT Christmas Lunch, held in the Hall of Petersfield’s Methodist Church on Station Road on Christmas Day.
This has become a seasonal fixture in the life of the town – with a Christmas feast served to guests, prepared by Maria Kyjovska, a professional chef and a member of the congregation at St Laurence’s Roman Catholic Church.
It’s great fun for the guests, say organisers, and just as much fun for the volunteers who ferry them to the hall, act as table hosts, wash-up and generally help out. Thanks to the generosity of local people there are enough volunteers now. And thanks to Waitrose’s Green Token Scheme, there is no charge for the guests.
Organiser Katie Wigley said: “We’d love to hear from you if you’d like to be a guest at the lunch! Don’t be shy – you will receive a very warm welcome and there’s no charge. We don’t want anyone to be on their own this Christmas. Who knows – perhaps a man in red might even make an appearance!”
