A best of British drag queen loved for her West End shows, and her part in the 2016 punk cult B movie Spidarlings, tagged Arachny In The UK, says she can’t wait to bring her act to the Half Moon pub in Sheet again for charity.

Londoner Tiffaney Wells now lives on St Mary’s Island on the River Medway in Kent with her husband and manager Raymond.

The island used to be part of Chatham naval base: “When the dockyard shut, the area was just decimated; I love it here, the water, the clean air, I just love it.”

And the big-wigged (she makes her own) and big-hearted singer and comedienne more used to theatre audiences says the pub venue is “fantastic.”

She loves being up close and personal with the audience – “it’s just wonderful” – and performing in aid of Petersfield’s Homestart Butser charity.

Homestart supports young parents finding it hard to cope.

Tiffaney’s first appearance at the pub came through her friendship with local family man Robert Ingrams who, when he semi-retired, began raising money for the charity.

Rob loves London shows, met Tiffaney, and she brought her act to his home.

“It was Rob’s 60th birthday, and it was such a wonderful evening – lots of fun,” said Tiffaney.

He then persuaded her that a charity gig at the Half Moon would sell out – it did, and her show in November will be her fifth one.

Rob said: “Tiffaney’s act is quite edgy but goes down a storm, and so far the shows have raised more than £6,000 for Homestart.”

And although the audience is mixed, it’s mainly women who love Tiffaney’s take on life.

“Oh, they appreciate a bit of class!” she says. “It’s one of the best shows I do every year – the audience are so relaxed, totally with the show. It’s lovely.”

Tiffaney trained as a singer at City Literary College in Drury Lane in central London, a centre of excellence for the performing arts. College alumni count David Bowie, Welsh poet Dylan Thomas and Petersfield author Michelle Magorian among their number.

“Then, darling, I was an entertainer at Warner holiday camp on Hayling Island – very hi de hi!”

Singing still plays a big part in her risque drag show; a show she put together at a friend’s suggestion.

Her first appearance as Tiffaney Wells was at a gay pub in Southend, the Foresters. Tiffaney next took her act to The Piano Bar in Soho’s Brewer Street in the West End, hosting and singing with a pianist.

Then followed a successful run of the West End show Tiffaney Wells: Songs from the Shows. She now takes her sell-out show to theatres, nightclubs, and charity events across the country.

Tiffaney will be at the Half Moon on Friday, November 19, supported by Karen Bizzell, with her fabulous Shirley Bassey tribute. The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £12. They can be booked via the website http://www.halfmoonsheet.co.uk/events/ or ring the pub on 01730 263859.
