FIREFIGHTERS used a picture of an overturned car on the A3 to highlight the importance of driving carefully in wet weather at the weekend.

The 60-year-old driver lost control of his hatchback after hitting standing water between Petersfield and Liss on Sunday morning.

Fortunately, the driver, who was treated for minor injuries by paramedics, managed to walk away from the vehicle following the accident at 8.30am on the northbound carriageway north of the A272 junction.

Fire crews from Horndean and Cosham made the vehicle safe after receiving an emergency call at 8.37am, with the stop message coming at 9.11am.
