LIP-SMACKING ice cream from Dylan’s Ice Cream has been awarded a double accolade in a national tasting competition.

Sumptuous blackcurrant ice cream, as well as raspberry sorbet, handcrafted by Dylan’s Ice Cream each won two coveted stars in the Great Taste Awards, run by the Guild of Fine Food.

Judges for the blind tasting included television chefs, a Great British Bake Off winner and buyers from Harrods.

Dylan’s owner Ben Govier said: “Both our blackcurrant ice cream and raspberry sorbet are fruit flavours which we make using whole real fruit that is freshly picked, crushed, blended and frozen ready to eat. Most ice cream makers use bought-in pastes or flavourings so I am delighted the judges recognised our commitment to freshness and quality.”

Mr Govier has been making ice cream since he was a boy. In 2014 he opened an ice cream parlour in Haslemere. He also sells from roving vans at events in Liphook. Great Taste is billed as the world’s most sought-after blind-tasted food awards, celebrating the very best in food and drink. It is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers. Some 10,000 products were judged by more than 500 experts.
