A NIGHT of scintillating guitar music, spanning soundscapes from Turkey to Brazil, is promised at a concert at Bedales.

Pete Oxley and his long-standing collaborator Nick Meier bring their ten different types of guitar to the school in Steep on January 31 at 7.30pm amid a twenty date tour for the dynamic duo.

Raph Mizraki on bass and Paul Cavaciuti on drums join them on stage after the interval.

The Oxley-Meier Guitar Duo and Quartet have enjoyed five star reviews with The Observer enthusing:?“Don’t fall into the trap of assuming that this is something exclusively for guitar buffs, or even jazz buffs.

“If you love music of any kind, you’ll probably fall for this.”

Pete has now released 12 critically acclaimed CDs featuring his original compositions.

He regularly performs with some of the world’s leading jazz artists including Chris Garrick, Gilad Atzmon, Tim Whitehead, Bobby Wellins, and his own band Curious Paradise.

With his unique style that is a blend of Metheny-esque jazz and Turkish-inspired world music, Nick has toured around the world with his band the Meier Group, sharing the bill with the biggest names in jazz.

He is currently in guitar supremo Jeff Beck’s band.
