EAST Hampshire has bucked the local and national trend by voting to remain in the EU.

The result announced at about 4.15am this morning in Petersfield Festival Hall by East Hampshire District Council chief officer Sandy Hopkins gave the remain in the EU campaign victory by 800 votes.

In total 73,917 votes were cast, with the remain campaign gaining 37,346, while the leave campaign collected 36,516 votes.
