EAST?Hampshire District Council can now hire traffic cones to anyone.
For example, residents wanting to cone off a section of road outside their homes to accommodate removal lorries
On Friday, August 5, a Leader Executive Decision was taken to add the following charges for cone hire to the council’s charges book:? £25 to use up to five cones, £35 for up to ten cones, £55 for up to 20 cones, £15 for any lost, stolen or damaged, and £20 per cone that is not returned.
In the council’s Leader Executive Decision document, it states: “The Traffic Team has developed an opportunity to generate extra income in a low risk and low cost manner.
Through industry contacts, an initial stock of cones has been secured free to enable the council to ‘start up the new enterprise’.
The decision to introduce the charges was made by leader of the council and portfolio holder for finance councillor Ferris Cowper.
