EAST Hampshire district and county councillor Adam Carew picked the ideal time of year to launch a book on ghosts in the district.

The spooky event was held at the Acorn Tea Rooms in the Royal Oak at Hollywater – one of the haunted places mentioned in Ghosts of East Hampshire.

Cllr Carew, who represents Whitehill and Bordon, confirms that Bramshott can lay claim to being one of the most haunted villages in Britain, although he says some of the stories may have been embellished to cover smuggling activities in the past.

Bentley, near Alton, has almost as many spirits and the Five Bells at Buriton is worthy of a mention. Cllr Carew is now finishing his next book on Ghosts of Hampshire, which should be out by Christmas.
