EAST Hampshire rail travellers are being asked for their views on a proposed timetable changes for the Portsmouth to London Waterloo line.
The consultation has been launched by the new south west rail network operator, South Western Railways (SWR), which took over from South West Trains, two months ago.
The online consultation is open until December 22 and once it has been agreed, it will come into effect a year later in December 2018.
Under the proposed timetable, there will be more trains, more seats at peak hours, and reduced journey times, said an SWR spokesman.
SWR managing director Andy Mellors said: “We really want to encourage as much feedback as possible so that we can implement a timetable that truly meets the requirements of our passengers and the communities we serve.”
SWR operates 1,700 services a day across the network, and the new timetable promises more trains, more seats and a faster service for Portsmouth to London Waterloo passengers.
An SWR?spokeswoman said people looking to contribute to the consultation should focus on the trains they use, rather than try and comment on the wider timetable.
For example, SWR would like to know how passengers would feel if it is proposed a train they regularly use is re-scheduled to run a bit later, but faster than previously, she added.
She said SWR wanted to know how passengers will feel about changes that will affect them; as part of the consultation, an SWR timetable roadshow will be visiting selected stations.
As well as the views of individual rail users, SWR is asking for the views of partner groups such as the East Hampshire Rail Community Partnership.
Partnership spokesman Mark Miller said: “My first impression is good, but now I need to go over it in detail and I am urging partnership members to do the same.
“I would be happy to collate a response, which may hold more sway than just individual responses.”
