The East Meon Nature group have a new noticeboard in the centre of the village.

It was funded via a councillor grant.

Brian Biggs of the nature group organised the refurbishment of the former East Meon Parish Council noticeboard, and its re-erection as a focal point for nature group news.

The thriving group was launched last year with the aim of carrying out habitat, wildlife and conservation activities and projects, collecting data, informing and speaking up for nature and the environment across the parish.

A spokesman said: “We want to encourage people’s interest and involvement in these things.

“We want their help in nurturing and protecting some of the natural treasures that are such an important part of what makes the Meon Valley a wonderful place in which to live and visit.

“But we also want to understand and support the particular things in which you have an interest and to make them a part of our work.

“We are working with the parish council to develop a set of guidelines for managing areas in a more sympathetic and sustainable way.”
