AMBITIOUS plans to revamp the heart of the Sustainability Centre into a green beacon have been unveiled.

Sailors who returned to the former HMS Mercury site last week were given a sneak preview of The Transformation Project.

Bosses want to transform the building at East Meon with a domed wildlife turf roof, a two-storey atrium, an extra classroom and expanded cafe, showcasing local and natural materials and building techniques.

The original naval building will remain at its heart but will be expanded and retrofitted to include a host of energy-saving and eco-friendly measures....
