STUDENTS at an East Hampshire college have been rewarded for their efforts over the last year.
The inaugural Second Year Student Awards Ceremony took place in the Wessex Arts Centre at Alton College.
The Alton?College Foundation introduced the awards to celebrate students who had shown outstanding achievements within their subjects.
The ceremony incorporated two other annual awards, namely the FB Design and Detail award, sponsored by David Forrest and the Mason Memorial Award, sponsored by Christine Westcott.
Trevor Heley, managing director of the foundation, opened the ceremony by welcoming students, parents, sponsors, college staff and the foundation directors who were in the audience to celebrate the achievement of the successful award winners.
A total of 16 students had excelled in their chosen subjects of creative visual arts, engineering and maths and were congratulated.
Three second year Creative Visual Art Awards were presented as well as other awards, including the Level Engineering Skills Award, the Mason Memorial Prize and the Mathematics Award.
The evening was brought to a close by Sara Russell, principal of Alton College.
She said: “I would like to thank The Alton College Foundation and all the other sponsors.
“I would also like to praise the outstanding quality of all the award winners and urge them to seize this and future opportunities to enrich and enhance their learning.”
