A FIVE-year-old year from Petersfield had a busy Easter holiday collecting unsightly litter around the town over eight days.

Ben, a Reception pupil at Froxfield C of E Primary School, is a David Attenborough in the making; he loves wildlife and is also passionate about looking after our planet.

He is raising money for the school by gaining sponsorship from his clear-up.

His mum Hayley said: “Ben attended a Forest School nursery and has been raised to respect our countryside.

“He is horrified when he sees litter ruining our lovely spaces and so he is undertaking a task that will make a difference.”

Ben started carrying out his daily one-hour litter picking missions from Easter Sunday and will continue every day until this Sunday.

So far he has tidied up at the railway station and nearby roads, Castle Yard car park, Chapel Street and The Square.

While in the town Ben was interviewed about his challenge to raise £600 by Stephen Martin of Petersfield’s volunteer-run community radio station Shine Radio.
