STUDENTS, staff, parents and governors of Bohunt School in Liphook celebrated another year of outstanding examination results.

Overall, 80 per cent of students at the school achieved a Grade 4 or better in English and in maths, with a four the new grade set by the Government as a pass.

In English 86 per cent of students achieving at least a Grade 4, and more than two thirds of students achieved a Grade 5 or higher.

In maths, 88 per cent of students achieved a Grade 4 or higher, and almost 70 per cent of students achieved a Grade 5 or above. Eight per cent of students achieved a Grade 9 in maths.

The proportion of Grade 9s per students at Bohunt School in Liphook was approximately three times the national rate. In total, there were 15 Grade 9s in English language, 16 Grade 9s in English literature, and 25 Grade 9s in maths.

Almost all students achieved at least a C or above in statistics (100 per cent), biology (98 per cent), physics (97 per cent), chemistry (96 per cent) and photography (94 per cent).

Ciara Macdonald, from Steep, achieved three grade nines in English literature, English language and maths, five A*s and three As.

She will study maths, further maths, physics and biology at Bohunt Sixth Form.

“I’m looking forward to it,” said Ciara. “This (the results) are so cool.”

Maia Daborn, from Headley, was happy after achieving two nines, an eight, five A*s and three As.

She will study biology, chemistry, maths and further maths at Bohunt Sixth Form. “I was really nervous before getting my results,” admitted Maia.

Leila Greening, from Petersfield, also achieved two nines and an eight, as well as a number of A*s and As.

She will study English literature, modern history, English language and art at Peter Symonds College.

“I was scared beforehand but I’m quite happy with my results,” said Leila.

“I’m hoping to go on and do an English degree.”

Harry Mercer, from Liphook, also had plenty of A*s and As. He will study modern history, maths and music at Godalming College.

He said: “I was so nervous I couldn’t get the results out the envelope. I had to rip it.”

Bohunt School headteacher Neil Strowger praised students and staff.

He said: “We are incredibly proud of the excellent results that have been achieved, which are a testament to the dedication, effort and hard work of our students and staff.

“At Bohunt School, we are committed to ensuring the achievement of every student, and we are delighted that our Year 11 students have achieved the brilliant results they deserve.

“It is an especially exciting year for all of us at Bohunt School, as many of this year’s cohort will be continuing their studies with us, at our brand new Bohunt Sixth Form which officially opens in September.

“We look forward to watching these students continue their educational journey with us to achieve further success.”
