STUDENTS at Bohunt School, which is part of Bohunt Education Trust (BET), are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results, enabling them to embark on the next stage of their education journey.

Students and staff joined together to mark the achievements of the 2022 cohort, who have shown great commitment, determination and hard work over the last few years to secure such strong results.

Overall, 86% of students at the school achieved a Grade 4 or better in English and maths, with a 4 being the grade set by the government as a standard pass. Furthermore, almost 90 per cent of all subject entries were graded at 4 and above.

With strengths across the board, particularly in the core subjects - results in English, maths and science were particularly impressive, with 94 per cent of students achieving at least a Grade 4 in English and 86 per cent of students in maths achieving a Grade 4 or higher.

A fantastic 86 per cent of students achieved two Grade 4s or better in science.

More than half the cohort took Triple Science with amazing results: Biology 99 per cent, Chemistry 97 per cent and Physics 99 per cent all at grade 4+.

The following subjects achieved 100 per cent grades 9-4, Economics, Dance, Ancient History and Statistics.

Bohunt School’s innovative CLiL programme, which saw the current cohort take GCSE Mandarin or GCSE Spanish two years early, also achieve fabulous results.

Spanish achieved a 100 per cent pass rate with 80 per cent at grades 7 and above.

Mandarin achieved a 97 per cent pass rate with 65 per cent at grades 7 and above.

100 per cent of students who sat GCSE Statistics in Year 10 also gained a grade at 9-4 with 90 per cent achieving a grade 7 and above.

These genuinely impressive results follow an outstanding set of A Level results last week for Bohunt Sixth Form when 51 per cent entries were at grades A*/A, making Bohunt the top state provider of A Levels locally.

Achievements were celebrated across the school, with standout individual highlights including:

  • Charlotte G gained eight grade 9s, one grade 8 and grade A in additional maths
  • Charlie H gained eight grade 9s, one grade 6 and the top grade of A in additional maths
  • Thomas H gained seven grade 9s, two grade 8s and one grade 7
  • William B gained seven grade 9s, one grade 8, one grade 7 and one grade A in additional maths
