BOHUNT Sixth Form will open in September and can take any students of college age in the area.
The sixth form is being built on the Bohunt School site and it will be a separate entity with its own purpose-built facilities for students.
It will see the educational offering already in place at Bohunt Education Trust’s secondary schools continue through to the sixth form, while also providing pastoral and academic support.
Teaching from existing teachers and new staff specifically employed for Bohunt Sixth Form will support students.
The curriculum options will provide students with a taste of undergraduate study, preparing them for university life, in addition to practical skills needed for future employment. This will be achieved through small, personalised class sizes to reflect typical university seminars and study groups.
More than the recommended teaching hours will be offered to provide an in-depth and critical understanding of each subject.
Bohunt Sixth Form will also be working in partnership with businesses such as Siemens and other industry partners to ensure students have the skills needed to succeed in the workplace.
The sixth form building has a variety of learning spaces so that learning and teaching can, inside and outside of lessons, be differentiated to individual students’ needs.
The areas include university standard science labs, seminar rooms, a learning resource centre, professional drama space, a sound-recording studio, group work areas and a social hub with a coffee bar and café.
Head of Bohunt Sixth Form Clare Hodgson said: “We are delighted to offer such a unique and rigorous curriculum to the prospective students of Bohunt Sixth Form.
“We are committed to giving our students the chance to gain the skills needed to succeed in university, employment and to flourish as 21st century global citizens.
“The range of subjects will provide the students with the opportunity to challenge themselves and broaden their subject horizons, ready for their next steps ahead, whatever they may be.
“Our experienced and specially trained team of tutors will support our students as they develop into independent young people and will be available every day for students, enabling a flexible but strong level of pastoral support. We are all looking forward to welcoming students in September.”
