THE Petersfield School (TPS) has given 20 Chinese students a taste of English education as part of a cultural exchange programme.
The programme – the biggest in the short history of the Bohunt Education Trust – saw students from Guangzhou complete two weeks’ schooling at TPS while staying with local families.
The visitors were treated to a jam-packed itinerary with activities ranging from after-school sessions with the debating society to excursions to the British Museum, Oxford, Portsmouth Harbour and the Warner Brothers studios. The fortnight concluded with a special closing ceremony which provided both parties with a chance to reflect on the experiences and relationships made.
The exchange is part of "the innovative and global approach to education" shown by Bohunt and TPS with 75 Chinese students in total visiting three schools across the trust.
"We were delighted to launch our largest cultural exchange as a trust yet, by welcoming 20 students to TPS," said Phil Avery, director of education at the Bohunt Educational Trust.
"These exchanges provide a brilliant opportunity for our students and staff, and the students from Guangzhou, to integrate, collaborate and share experiences of different cultures and approaches to education."
