CHURCHER’S College Junior School welcomed Sue and Andy Simms with their dog, Toffee, from Canine Partners.
They gave a very interesting talk and demonstration of the work that dogs do for people with different disabilities.
They gave a very interesting talk and demonstration of the work that dogs do for people with different disabilities.
The children were amazed to see how Toffee could help a person get out of bed, get dressed and unload a washing machine.
Canine Partners provide assistance dogs which are trained to meet the needs of individuals with even the most complex physical disabilities.
They currently help adults, both civilians and former service personnel, who have a physical disability or condition that affects their daily life and limits their independence.
Canine Partners work in partnership with Help for Heroes, the Royal British Legion and other services organisations to provide assistance dogs for veterans and those wounded in service.
Sue and Andy had been invited to school by a Year 5 pupil who had raised £106 for Canine Partners.
The children are encouraged to engage in charity work as part of the guild scheme run in school.
