YEAR 6 pupils at Churcher’s College Junior School (CCJS) have been on the school’s annual residential trip to France.
They had the opportunity to take part in adventurous activities, speak French and reflect on the past.
Shortly after arriving in France the children visited the Nausicaa aquarium, which had some fascinating marine creatures and some entertaining sea lions.
The next stop was the visit to the primary school with which CCJS has been in contact, where the French children practised their English and Year 6 practised their French skills and showed photos of their pets and families.
After a drink and a biscuit, the children left and went to the war cemetery at Etaples.
After a busy day, the children spent a reflective hour looking at the gravestones and the books of remembrance.
The final activity after supper involved playing lotto.
The final adventure was to go sand sailing, and, despite there not being a lot of wind, the children had fun whizzing around in the buggies, with some children going around cones and others knocking them over.
French teacher Sophie Penfold said: “By the look on their smiling faces, Year 6 will add the trip to France to their bank of happy memories from CCJS.”
