SITUATED on a seven-acre site adjacent to the A272 and near Sheet Common, West Mark Camp School was to become the home to many Portsmouth evacuees between 1940 and 1945.

The first 250 of them arrived in a convoy of green and cream Southdown buses on June 24, 1940.

This picture is of some of the evacuees who called the school home during the war.

Petersfield Museum is looking for anyone who has memories of the West Mark Camp School or for anyone who was an evacuee in and around Petersfield during the war who would like to share their memories.

The museum is also on the lookout for any photographs from the time.
