LANGRISH Primary School has been presented with a human rights award by the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef).

Unicef campaigns for children’s rights and provides humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries.

After 18 months of promoting children’s human rights, and a visit by Unicef UK inspectors, the school has been awarded the Level One Rights Respecting School Award. This is given to schools which make good progress towards embedding the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child into its ethos and curriculum.

Headteacher Sarah Wright said: “Since January 2016, we have been working towards becoming a Rights Respecting School. Our steering committee has been leading this initiative, and we are delighted to have achieved our goal.”
