PLAYTIME is much more exciting now for pupils of Greatham Primary School.

Smiles have greeted new outdoor equipment which has been installed at the school, thanks to the efforts of the school’s parent teacher association (PTA).

The PTA at the school is called the Friends of Greatham School (FROGS).

FROGS fundraising events have included the summer fair and circus, the Christmas fair and cake sales.

Greatham Primary School headteacher Jo Goman said: “FROGS raised £8,000 to buy this equipment.

“The equipment is all new and it was installed at the start of September.

“The children have all been trained in how to use the new equipment safely, and they all love it.

“We are also running a competition for the children to name the new equipment, and the winner of the competition will be picked by our young governors.”

FROGS have raised money for the school for a number of years and members decide how they would like to spend the money.

FROGS member Iain Callaghan said: “We’ve raised money through the summer fair, the Christmas fair, a school disco and a bag pack at Tesco.

“We have also had cake sales at Rams Walk in Petersfield, and our next cake sale at Rams Walk is on Saturday, October 15.”

To celebrate the equipment being installed, Miss Goman, Mr Callaghan and the school’s new young governors officially opened the play equipment.
